One Month’s Worth of Trash (2022)
Single use items surround us every day, designed for convenience and quickly thrown away without a second thought. We rarely consider where they go, whether they sit in landfills, break apart, or leach chemicals into the earth. It's easy to consume without using, and even easier to let the planet deal with the aftermath. But our waste isn’t nature’s responsibility. It’s ours.
During Covid, surrounded by disposable plastics and masks, I began to see waste as a material with creative potential. I realized that the items we throw away, often without a second thought, still hold value. I created a large self portrait from all the disposable materials that I used throughout the month.
